Preschool - Raccoon Classroom

Children move up to Preschool from the Toddler 2 classroom as they are developmentally ready, usually at around 3 years of age. Nellie's Treehouse provides breakfast, lunch, 3 snacks, and whole milk daily for children in this program.

A child’s feeling of independence is a prime focus of the Raccoon classroom. During the course of the day, children are encouraged to make choices for themselves and cooperate with others, as well as to listen and follow specific directions.

The teachers lead the children in small and large group activities, including music and movement, storytelling, circle time, and art activities. The children are encouraged to make friends, share, and communicate with their classmates. In preparation for Pre-Kindergarten, the children work on their handwriting skills, as well as learning colors, shapes, letters, and numbers.

The children are also prompted to use the bathroom on their own, although assistance is given if necessary.
