Curriculum

The Toddler classroom was created to be a safe, engaging environment that provides the children with opportunities to learn through exploration, investigation and discovery. The learning centers provide fun areas from housekeeping to reading, and puzzles to blocks. In our group are we do morning circle, sing, dance and read stories together. Our curriculum includes the learning domains of language, cognitive, physical/motor, social/emotional and self-help.

We love to get messy when we express ourselves with art and sensory materials! We provide many opportunities throughout the day to practice self-help skills including washing hands, putting on shoes, using utensils, potty training and more. We enjoy playground time on most days and monthly have a story time with the librarian from the Amherst Public Library.

We strive to maintain open communication with our families and look forward to getting to know your child and develop a partnership with you to assure the best learning experiences for your child. We post parent information including our weekly curriculum and menu on our parent board. Daily we will keep you up to date on your child through a program application called‚ "BrightWheel". You will be invited to join the app so you can see what your child is doing throughout his/her day. Parent Preliminary Meetings will be held in the first two weeks of September. These help set the goals for your child's learning. Assessments will be done twice a year in January and June.
We encourage you to visit prior to your child's first day to get a feel for the day. If you have any questions or concerns we urge you to feel free to discuss them with us. We are excited to be your partner in your child's learning. We look forward to having you join our classroom and becoming part of the Nellie's Treehouse family!
